Your Gift Sets the Rhythm. A Child’s Future Follows
Ashe • Culture • Confidence • Legacy
At Bi-Okoto, every drumbeat carries wisdom, identity, and joy. And every Giving Tuesday gift sends that rhythm into a child’s life.
Meet Marlie — one of our Okoto Kekeres who truly found her home at Bi-Okoto.
We first met her through her teacher during one of our school residencies. She was curious, observant, and quietly absorbing every beat around her. But one afternoon after drumming class, something shifted.
Marlie walked up with her shoulders back, eyes bright with determination, and said:
“I feel like I’m ready to lead now.”
That was the moment her transformation found its rhythm.
A few days later, she wrote a heartfelt message to her teacher — sharing how much Bi-Okoto meant to her, how she felt seen, supported, encouraged, and how she wanted to keep growing as a leader.
Today, Marlie steps into rehearsals and performances with courage.
She welcomes younger students with kindness, lifts the room with her joy, and dreams of one day becoming a Teaching & Performing Artist, sharing culture and confidence wherever her rhythm takes her.
Your generosity keeps this rhythm moving — from Marlie, to the children who look up to her, to the families who witness her growth.
Your gift today helps more youth like Marlie discover their rhythm, their confidence, and their voice.
