Bi-Okoto goes to Cincinnati Waldorf School

Seventh graders are studying African geography including an introduction to physical geography, climates, and cultures.

As part of this study, the class has been working with @biokoto to learn some traditional drumming and dance from West African nations like Ghana and Nigeria.

Bi-Okoto is dedicated to sharing the rich cultural history of Africa through the arts, including music, dance, performance, and food. The class has had so much fun with their teacher, Ms. Shola, who has given them a deeper understanding of where the music they are playing comes from and its cultural significance.

The seventh grade class play will feature retellings of tales from across the African continent — and some of the drumming and dance they’ve learned. The performances will be at 1:30 and 4:00 on Thursday, February 15!
